The unit is not working...and now?

Sorry for this - but no unit is safe against bugs or failures. We can only help to find out what can be done in case of a technical problem. If any kind of malfunction occurs, you (as our honest customer) need reliable information what to do and whom to contact for help. Please follow the instructions below if you seem to have a defective Nobels product. This will save you (and us) considerable time and money, thank you!

Is the unit really defective?

Our internal statistic says: Approximately 33% all defectives are not defective! Either other connected units had the malfunction or the user didn't follow the owners manual.

Please check if the unit is really defective. If possible, check the batteries - only with new and full batteries is it possible to run without failures. Check, if possible, the power supply adaptor. If some other units are not working with the power supply adaptor it is rather sure that the power supply adaptor is defective and not the unit. After you checked everything and now you are sure that the unit is definitely defective - please check if the unit is still in the warranty time.

If you are not sure if the unit is defective - or not, it is a good thing do look at the FAQ and check if there is a solution for your problem. May be your problem was detected by other users before.

Warranty?

Also referred to as "guarantee of the manufacturer". Please make sure you have all necessary documents (receipt or other proof-of-purchase) since warranty can only apply if you can proove your ownership of the product. If the defect was caused by maloperation, the warranty will be rejected. It covers only failures that were caused by faulty manufacturing.

For example: If you damage the unit by using the wrong AC/DC adaptor the warranty will not cover this defect. Please note: Too high a voltage or wrong DC-polarity can be easily detected by any service technician. In such a case please do not even try to lodge a claim of warranty. This would only cost both sides a considerable amount of time and the unit would be returned to you unrepaired and at your cost anyway.

Other typical cases that are not covered by our warranty include any mechanical damage caused by applying too much force or internal shorts caused by spilled liquids (i.e. beer, soft drinks, etc).

Yes, warranty applies!

Even if you are certain that the defect was not caused by faulty operation please DO NOT send the unit to us directly. Instead you should return the unit to the dealer you bought it from. The local retailer is responsible for handling such cases and his experience might save you a lot of time, frustration and money.

In case that the dealer is out of business please contact the Nobels distributor for your territory. They will help you out and arrange everything for you. Only in case that there is no official Nobels distribution in your country please contact us via email for further instructions.

Repair

If the unit needs repair (regardless of any guarantee) please DO NOT send the unit to us directly either. Instead return the unit to your dealer if he has a repair shop. If not ask him for a qualified technician in your area. If the technician should need any assistance he can contact us for support. Schematics can be downloaded from our website.

If you are not sure whether the unit is defective or not it is advisable to look at the FAQ section of our website. Chances are that other users have experienced the same problem before and the solution might be offered right there. If you have checked every possibility and still get no result then contact us via email. (Please use email only)

Replacement parts

If you need replacement parts for your Nobels product you can order them from your local dealer. Your dealer will receive the requested parts from his distributor. Replacement part numbers are not neccessary.

Please note that only original Nobels parts are available through our distributors. Standard parts like battery clips, resistors, semiconductors or capacitors must be purchased from a local electronics supplier or online shop (i.e. Radio Shack etc.). If your dealer has closed his shop for ever please contact another Nobels dealer in your area. Please note that under normal circumstances distributors do not sell parts directly to customers!

Thank you for your cooperation!
